1. WHAT IS CAMBOSASTRA?

CAMBOSASTRA is the first Cambodian living and autonomous online digital library. It was founded in 2008 to provide ready access to education materials and improve the quality of learning, teaching, and research in Cambodia as well as to serve the broader community in accessing information.

The main objective of CAMBOSASTRA is to collect and disseminate electronic books, reports, articles, theses, journals about Cambodia, as well as researches related to Cambodia in order to assist researching, learning, teaching, publishing in Cambodia and to serve the community in accessing information at large.

Our mission is to provide a comprehensive, easy-to-use, searchable, Internet-based bibliographic and full-text database of education research and information for the promotion of information and communication technology (ICT) and the lifelong learning.

2. WHO USE CAMBOSASTRA

Our users include education researchers, teachers, librarians, administrators, education policymakers, instructors and students in teacher-preparation programs, parents, the media and business communities, and the general public.

At present, we are launching compiling a master list of possible entries, together with initiating the recruitment of an Editorial Advisory Board to oversee the obtaining, vetting and translating of possible material.

3. CAMBOSASTRA COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT PROCESS

Building and maintaining the CAMBOSASTRA collection of electronic books, reports, articles, theses, journals content requires an ongoing systematic process. Suggestions for sources come from our content experts, CAMBOSASTRA contributors, librarians, educators, authors, publisher representatives, and the general public. All materials selected for CAMBOSASTRA are available in both English and Khmer.

The CAMBOSASTRA website contains full-text resources protected by copyright laws. The authors or publishers retain copyright to these works, which are used by CAMBOSASTRA with permission. All persons reproducing, redistributing, or making commercial use of this information are responsible for compliance with the terms and conditions asserted by the copyright holder. Transmission or reproduction of protected items beyond that allowed by fair use as defined in the copyright laws requires the written permission of the copyright owners.

CAMBOSASTRA does not retain copyright to the works indexed in the database and cannot grant permission to use indexed works under copyright protection. Certain works, including documents, reports, and other materials authored by the Cambodian government and non-government organizations, reside in the public domain and  may be freely distributed and copied.  If the copyright status of a particular work is uncertain, it should be verified with the sponsoring agency.

The CAMBOSASTRA website includes links or pointers to other sites. Once another site is accessed through a link on the CAMBOSASTRA website, the copyright and licensing restrictions of the new site apply. CAMBOSASTRA cannot authorize the use of copyrighted materials contained in linked websites.
