Visakha Day or ពិសាខបូជា​​ in Khmer is the holiest day in Buddhism. It is the celebration of the Birthday, the Enlightenment day and the Parinirvan day of the Gautama Buddha. This year Visakha Day will be held on the full moon day which is on the 17th May 2011. This year is also the 2600th anniversary of the Buddha’s enlightenment

In Cambodia, to celebrate this great event, the government of Cambodia has planned the 16-18 May to celebrate the Great Anniversary in Koh Pich, Phnom Penh. Here is the schedule:

–          16th afternoon: opening Buddhist Exhibition
–          17th afternoon: official celebration of the 2600th Anniversary
–          18th morning: offering food to 2600 monks
